88th Opera Festival – Franco Zeffirelli and the Arena
{ Tags: Arena, Opera Festival, Verona \ May31 }The 88th Opera Festival is fast approaching, and this year’s theme is ‘Franco Zeffirelli and the Arena’, a dedication to one of the great Italian Directors.
From June to August each year, opera productions are held in the world famous 2000-year-old Arena di Verona. Capable of hosting up to 15,000 spectators, the Arena in the town of Verona, Italy has seem numerous musical luminaries take stage, ranging from famous opera singers, renowned conductors, and in recent times popular music bands such as Pearl Jam and Elton John.
This year, paying tribute to the music of Giacomo Puccini, Giuseppe Verdi and Georges Bizet, Arena di Verona will be presenting the operas of Aida, Madame Butterfly, Carmen, Turandot and il Trovatore.
Don’t miss this exciting outdoor extravaganza featuring the greatest operas, sung by the finest singers, in an ancient amphitheatre built by the Romans.
