Starting today and for the next month or so, we’ll be bringing you 26 must-do travel experiences, beginning with each letter of the alphabet. Beginning with the letter ‘A’, the first must-do on our list is a visit to the physically and culturally significant Ayers Rock.

Ayers Rock is a must-visit for several reasons. Firstly, for the sheer magnificence of one of the world’s largest monoliths. The amazing natural structure stands at a height of 348 m, and is 3.6 km long and 1.9 km wide. It is an awe-inspiring structure and should be viewed at sunset, where you will witness the formation change into a multitude of hues, from a golden tan to a deep red.

Secondly, because of its tremendous significance to the aboriginal natives, who are said to have resided in the area for over 10,000 years. Ayers Rock is said to have been created at the beginning of time and is considered sacred by Aboriginals.
