A to Z of Must-Do Travel Experiences – B for ‘Black Forest’

{ Tags: , , \ Jun1 }

Apart from being the mystical setting for many of our favourite childhood fairy tales, the black forest is a charming collection of villages and rolling hills within an area of 200 kilometres by 60 kilometres. While the first mention of Black Forest often brings to mind cake, the area is actually famous for quite a few other things including cuckoo clocks, wines, Bollenhut hats and picturesque farms.

While rich in tradition and history, as well as myth and legends, there are in fact plenty for the modern traveller to do here. These include visiting the thermal baths of spa town Baden-Baden, Skiing at Feldberg Mountain, and walking and cycling through the numerous trails of the Black Forest.

There is also a high density of Michelin and Gault Millau rated restaurants in the area, which makes the Black Forest one of the must-do trips of a lifetime.
