QTP Goes to Europe – Day 6

{ Tags: , , \ Feb16 }

Another eventful day awaits: walking around the town of Siena, exploring the fort town of San Gimignano, catching the ‘falling’ tower of Pisa and cruising into the seaside resort town of Forte Dei Marmi.

0900 - Walking through the well-preserved town of Siena. Ironically, it was due to the town's lack of money that they were unable to build more modern buildings.

0905 - Typical building facade in Siena.

0915 - Jav and Hui Juan standing in the Piazza del Campo.

0920 - The Torre del Mangia is one of Siena's architectural treasures.

0930 - The Palazzo Publico or town hall.

0935 - The grounds of the Piazza del Campo, where the twice-a-year Palio race is hosted. The shell-shaped piazza slopes towards a central water drain, just in front of the Palazzo Publico, part of the city's drainage system.

From one medieval town to another, we head to the pristine San Gimignano.

1100 - A typical scene of the streets in San Gimignano. Nothing much has changed from medieval times, with only the occasional hanging piece of laundry giving away the actual age of the town.

1115 - Traditional houses of the people from San Gimignano.

1120 - Jav and Huijuan along the streets of San Gimignano.

1130 - A well in the centre of town.

1145 - Overlooking the Tuscan countryside.

1150 - A sculpture on a patio in San Gimignano.

1200 - Staying safe in San Gimignano.

1215 - Lazing cat.

1230 - A natural archway.

From San Gimignano, we head to Pisa.

1605 - The leaning tower of Pisa, a true icon.

1615 - Pisa's Duomo is another spectacular work of art in the Piazza del Duomo.
