In the first bull run of the San Fermin festival in Pamplona in northern Spain, four people, consisting of a US tourist, a Scot and two Spanish nationals were injured as they ran through the old town pursued by bulls.

An annual affair, the event sees around 2,000 people each year running through the narrow, twisting cobbled streets, as they are chased by bulls, making their way from their corral to the bull ring. The distance of the run is 825 metre, and lasts for just two and a half minutes.

None of the injured were gored by a bull, but rather, they simply fell as they were running. Spain’s most famous festival started last Monday, and will run till the 14th of July.
